success has several aspects. broadly speaking, there is external success, in the sense of being well receivedor falling flat, and ther is the success and failure at the matter of one's work itself. this could be described as being well received or falling flat, too, and even if the external success is, in many respects, important, for oneself, for the others, maybe for art per se, in the end we are rooted by internal success and succeeding at the act at hand. only if you sell a good that is identical to its price, this internal success and failure do not exist.
