Live electronics and performance with the Theater der Versammlung Bremen.

How do communication and perception change in our accelerating times? In the Click performance of the Theater der Versammlung, the audience sets the ensemble in motion in real time using computer commands. The performers access the physical and textual material of roles they usually inhabit in different pieces.

Over the course of several rounds of this game, audience and performers rapidly create new patterns of behaviour and significance from these fragments. The audience learns to manage the commands and see themselves reflected in the commands, for example if chaos ensues from frequent calls or a role is allowed to unfold.

The music borrows from aspects of the game and, in its own way, tracks them. Sound identites move towards each other, diverge, take paths or jump. Chains of events have an intrinsic logic, but also react indirectly to co-occuring events. Music, hence, not as a background but as part of a game of motion, language, and sound.
