one dimension of literature, of art in general, is to express the incongruency of the single and the whole. to describe in which was the single is somehow lost in the institution of the society. this experience is described and expressed from the perspective of the single ones. we see the world of this individual, and it shows up as laying crosswise, as not fitting to the world as it shows up from the perspective of the whole, the directives, the logic, the institutions. a fundamental loneliness and outsiderism therefore, but carried out again into the society as artistic result, based on reception and production. by this, being outside again becomes a social activity, again becomes a part of the society, and potentially even an additional institution of the society. this paradox can be dangerous for the art in case it loses its perspective, writing top-down rather than from a lost angle. if it succeeds though to express the lost, to be heard and to hear oneself, a symbol can arise for a possible association between single and whole, in which case the single can show up wholly, and is being welcomed and received by a whole which by this gets itself a new form.
